Christmas Traditions!

So as I was listening to the First Presidency's message, President Eyring was telling of how they acted out the Christmas story every year. This brought back childhood memories of my families Christmas traditions so I thought I would share some of our families traditions with you.
In Davids family they were allowed to open there stockings while they waited for everyone else to come by the tree. They would have waffles for breakfast, which also a Sunday morning tradition.
In my family on Christmas Eve, which ever older sibling was around they would bring there family over to my mom's house and they would get the rest of the siblings and the grandchildren to act out the Nativity. Someone would read it out of the Bible and the kids acted it out. My mom lived in Israel or Jerusalem and has some of the shawls and head dressings that they would wear so it was fun to dress up and look like the real thing. What ever we didn't have, a draped sheet was a good substitute. We all played a part. I remember playing Mary when I was younger and a Angel when I was older. That was a highlight of Christmas Eve. After that, we would sing Christmas carols and eat Christmas treats. Then in the morning we had to wait for the "okay" from mom, who was the present passer outer. While we waited we all got our stockings to see all the goodies and little presents we got like, toot brush, socks and we always got an orange.
Our traditions as a family are few but are fun. First we put up our tree and decorate it after Thanksgiving. We started collecting Disney Hallmark ornaments after we got married and we get a few every year. Now that we have Amelia and Bree they both have a First Christmas ornament, and we started letting Amelia pick out ornaments for her collection. Bree will start hers next year. (We also have some other fun misc ornaments that are not Disney.) I think doing a gingerbread house will be one of our new Christmas traditions for years to come. I will usually do a Christmas scene puzzle, but I think the Disney one that Amelia and David did will have to count for this year.
We got this Village the fist Christmas after we got married, and I still think it is perfect!!! It is one of my favorite decorations that we have. Amelia likes to help me set it up and hand me the elf's to put in the village.
Of course we put up our Nativity sets so that we will always remember the TRUE meaning of Christmas.
This year Amelia and Bree got this Fisher Price Nativity from Grandma and Grandpa Hill.(Thanks!!) Amelia is playing with it all the time.

We put the pretty ones where they won't be a temptations for little hands.

I hope you and your families will have a
VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS
this year!!!

Puzzle Time!

So for FHE last night we hooked up David's laptop to the T.V. and watched the First Presidency's message, it was so good. During the program Amelia got into a puzzle that I had on the table and was playing with the pieces and actually got a few matches.
So after the program was over David started to help Amelia with the puzzle. She had such a fun time doing a puzzle with Daddy. She would hand him all the pieces and tell him where they go. She was getting so good, she would pick out a piece and put it where it fits all by her self. She is so smart!!
This puzzle is 500 pieces. I was surprised that it was even keeping her attention.
All done! That was Fun!

The finished puzzle! As you can see it is puzzle of Walt Disney World Resort. It has a bunch of Disney characters..no wonder she had so much fun and it kept her attention.

Maybe she will like to do more big puzzles, we'll see.

FHE Fun!

For Family Home Evening on Monday we had a blast decorating a gingerbread house. I got a ginger bread house Kit a Wal -mart with EVERYTHING in the kit. How clever!
WARNING: Not a good idea for inpatient people!!
Amelia was so excited when I showed her what we were going to do.

Bree had fun watching us decorate the house in the high chair.

David helped Amelia put frosting on the house.

Now that the roof is on we can start to decorate it with candy!!!

She would have rather have eaten the candy instead of put it on the house.
Bree eventually got bored!

Amelia loved putting the candy on the house. She got mad when we tried to help her cause she wanted to do it all by her self.
She thought it was funny when the candy would fall.

Mommy helped Amelia put lights on the edge of the roof!

Amelia loved to eat the frosting!
We had to take a break from the fun and get ready for bed and ready scriptures and say prayers.

Now that we have Jammie's on we can finish..eating frosting that is.

The finished product!

Amelia was so proud of her (our) creation!
That was so fun!

Thanksgiving Fun!

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. It was very laid back. Thanksgiving morning we all cuddled in Mommy and Daddy's bed. It was fun to close together. Later that morning we invited David's brother Josh to go see Bolt with us it was fun and the movie was good. Amelia enjoyed it cause it was about a dog. She loves animals.
When we got home I started cooking. I put the turkey breast in the oven and everyone else took naps. By the time the food was ready everyone woke up and uncle Josh came over to eat. Then my favorite part, the dessert! Thanksgiving is not complete without Pumpkin Pie!!
We hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Update on the Hill Family!

Well I really have never done an update on our family so I thought that I would do one.
DAVID: David is still working at Walt Disney World Resort as Financial Analyst in the Finance department doing sales audits ( making sure everything balances). He is a supervisor over 11 people. He really enjoys his job and the people that he works with! He is looking forward to learn all the other things in this company that he has not yet learned. I wouldn't be surprised if we stayed with the Disney company for a long time. David is also serving in our ward as a home teacher and the Deacon advisor and really likes being in the Young Men's program. David recently took the GMAT test to get into a MBA program. He is looking at University of Florida or Stetson University, I believe he is leaning more towards Stetson. It will be better and cheaper in the long run if that is his pick. That program will start in February and will go for 15 months. David loves playing with Amelia and Bree, and is a wonderful husband and daddy!!

PATRICE: I don't like writing about myself so this could be very short. I LOVE being a stay at home mom to my two amazing girls. They are teaching me things everyday! I love to crochet and sew and make things or at least try. I love "mommy time" when the girls are asleep and watch the shows of the day. I recently have liked reading more and more. (ever since the Twilight series came out). I too am serving in our ward as a visiting teacher and I am a supervisor for visiting teaching.

AMELIA: Amelia is always a joy to be around. She will be 3 in January and are trying to get her potty trained before then. She loves watching movies and cartoons on playhouse Disney and nick Jr.(yes she is allowed.) She loves books and her toys. She also LOVES being a big sister. She likes to share toys and books and runny noses and colds with Bree. It is so cute to watch her take care of Bree and be a big sister. She is a great helper! Amelia is such a people person, she loves to show off and get every one's attention.(as I found out walking around in the Dallas airport.) Amelia loves church and is so good(most of the time) and loves nursery! Amelia is just so much fun to watch grow up. She is so little still but has a huge heart full of love. She is a blessing for our family.

BREE: Last but not least, Bree. She is now 4 months old and is getting so big and wows me all the time. She had her 4 month check up on Monday(11/17) and here are her stats.
WEIGHT: 14lbs 5oz (75%) HEIGHT: 25 1/8 IN.(90%) HEAD CIR: 16 1/2(75%)
She can roll from her back to her tummy and almost can roll tummy to back. She smiles all the time and the doctor said that she can now have rice cereal and in 2 weeks we can start veggies so there will be lots of fun messy face pictures coming I'm sure. She is laughing a little and she always smiles when Amelia plays with her.She has great head control and is so strong, she can even pull her self up when you hold her fingers! Speaking of fingers she is a huge finger sucker! Any finger that she can find she will suck on it , yours, hers it doesn't matter! She will also be fun to watch grow up. Bree is also such a great blessing for our family!

Well I think that just sums it all up. I hope you have enjoyed my Hill Family update!

More fun times in Utah!

We had a ton of fun in Utah! we hope you enjoy the pictures!

Grandma Carlton's Surprise!!

ON November 5Th we left Oregon to go to Utah to surprise my mom for her 70Th birthday! On the Airplane ride there Amelia liked listen and to jam out to The Wiggles! It was so cute and I really wished that the video would have worked so you all could see how cute she was dancing and singing out loud in her seat! The girls are so good on the airplane and I am very grateful for that!

Amelia Listening to The Wiggles!

So we got to Utah and that night my family was getting together to trow my mom a surprise party! She didn't even know that I was coming to Utah. My sister from Arizona was also there and no one knew about that but my sister Michelle, the event planner!

ME THE GIRLS AND MY MOM My sister had put 70 candles on the cake. Well that was too many for my mom to blow out by herself, so she had the help of the Grand kids that were there.
